Get ready, Nepal! The wait is over, and the stage is set for a revolution in entrepreneurship. Shark Tank Nepal, the most anticipated business reality show, is finally here, bringing a wave of excitement for aspiring entrepreneurs and viewers alike. Premiering this Wednesday, Ashar 18, 2082 (July 2, 2025), on Himalaya TV HD, the show will air every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 PM, offering a thrilling platform for Nepali innovators to pitch their dreams to some of the country’s biggest business tycoons.
Imagine a room buzzing with ambition, where bold ideas meet sharp minds. That’s what Shark Tank Nepal promises—a stage where everyday dreamers get a shot at turning their business visions into reality. This Nepali adaptation of the globally celebrated Shark Tank franchise, licensed from Sony Pictures Television, is more than just a TV show. It’s a movement to spark entrepreneurship, inspire innovation, and showcase Nepal’s untapped potential to the world.
For those unfamiliar, Shark Tank is a worldwide phenomenon that began in Japan as Money Tigers in 2001 and has since taken the globe by storm, with versions in over 50 countries, including the hugely popular Shark Tank India. Now, Nepal joins this elite club as the 54th franchise, bringing its unique flavor to the format. Entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a panel of investors, known as “sharks,” who decide whether to invest their own money in exchange for equity or debt. It’s high-stakes, high-energy, and full of surprises.
The first season of Shark Tank Nepal is directed by Simosh Sunuwar, known for his work on Himalaya Roadies. Across 20 episodes, 100 entrepreneurs will take the stage, with five pitches featured in each episode. These aren’t just any businesses—each one is a registered Nepali company, operational for at least a year, and led by Nepali citizens. From tech startups to traditional crafts, the diversity of ideas promises to reflect Nepal’s rich entrepreneurial spirit. The sharks are set to invest between NPR 350 million and 400 million (approximately USD 2.6-3 million) in the most promising ventures, making this a life-changing opportunity for participants.
Who are these sharks? They’re Nepal’s top business minds, ready to challenge, mentor, and invest. The panel includes:
- Hem Raj Dhakal, Co-Founder of IME Group, is a visionary driving Nepal’s economic growth.
- Cabinet Shrestha, Founder of Agni Group, is known for innovation in Nepal’s business landscape.
- Ritu Singh Vaidya, Director of Vaidya’s Organisation, is a trailblazer in strategic growth.
- Anand Bagaria, Managing Director of Nimbus Group, is transforming Nepal’s agribusiness sector.
- Saurabh Jyoti, Director of Padma Jyoti Group, is a mentor blending tradition with modern innovation.
These sharks aren’t just investors; they’re mentors who bring decades of experience, sharp instincts, and a passion for uplifting Nepal’s economy. Their presence on Shark Tank Nepal signals a bright future for local businesses, offering not just funding but also guidance to scale ideas into empires.
Why is this show such a big deal? Nepal is brimming with talent, but many entrepreneurs face hurdles like limited funding and exposure. Shark Tank Nepal breaks down these barriers, giving small businesses a national stage to shine. Whether it’s a tech innovator from Kathmandu or a handicraft maker from Pokhara, this show is a chance to connect with investors who believe in Nepal’s potential. As Shyam Kandel, Executive Director of Himalaya TV, puts it, “This is not just a show but a message of optimism for Nepal’s business future.”
The journey to Ashar 18 hasn’t been easy. Himalaya TV secured the license from Sony Pictures Television three years ago, but the COVID-19 pandemic and economic challenges delayed the launch. Now, with filming already completed, the excitement is palpable. Entrepreneurs have gone through rigorous screening, submitting detailed applications and financial reports. Those selected faced interviews before earning their spot to pitch. For viewers, this means every episode will showcase polished, passionate presentations from Nepal’s brightest minds.
What can you expect when you tune in? Picture entrepreneurs stepping into the spotlight, hearts racing, as they pitch their businesses to the sharks. Some will face tough questions—sharks are known for spotting weaknesses in business plans. Others might spark bidding wars as sharks compete to invest. Not every pitch will secure a deal, but even those who walk away empty-handed may gain valuable feedback or mentorship. Each episode is a rollercoaster of emotions, from nail-biting negotiations to triumphant handshakes.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, Shark Tank Nepal is also a call to action. Applications are still open until January 15, 2025, through the Himalaya TV website or app. If you’ve got a registered business generating revenue and a vision to scale, this could be your moment. The process is straightforward: submit your application, provide financial details, and, if selected, prepare to pitch your heart out. As the sharks often say, it’s not just about the idea—it’s about execution and passion.
Viewers, whether you’re a business enthusiast or just love great TV, Shark Tank Nepal is a must-watch. It’s a chance to see Nepal’s entrepreneurial spirit in action, learn about valuation and risk, and cheer for local heroes chasing their dreams. Saurabh Jyoti, one of the sharks, sums it up perfectly: “Nepal has immense potential, and the youth are the key to unlocking that future.”
So, mark your calendars for Ashar 18, 2082, and tune in to Himalaya TV HD every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 PM. Shark Tank Nepal is more than a show—it’s a celebration of ambition, innovation, and the Nepali dream. Don’t miss the premiere that’s set to change the game for entrepreneurs across the nation.
