Caught in the act! Kathmandu police swooped in on a lavish birthday party, nabbing alleged gang leader Chakre Milan (Milan Gurung) and 46 others. The dramatic arrest unfolded late Thursday night at Hotel Sambala in Maharajgunj, where Milan was celebrating in style. Known for his ties to organized crime, Milan’s flashy event drew police attention after complaints of public disturbance and traffic chaos.
The operation, led by Senior Superintendent Bishwo Adhikari, targeted Thamel and Maharajgunj areas. Police acted on a tip-off, finding Milan’s group parading vehicles in a convoy style, blocking streets. Authorities say the celebration wasn’t just loud—it was a cover for criminal activities. Chakre Milan, long under surveillance for alleged extortion and violence, now faces charges alongside 18 associates for disrupting public order. The Kathmandu District Court granted a seven-day remand for further investigation.
Milan, a notorious figure in Kathmandu’s underworld, has dodged serious jail time before, often exploiting legal loopholes. His past includes arrests for money laundering and drug trafficking, yet he’s maintained influence through political ties. This latest crackdown signals a tougher stance by police, who detained 104 people across Kathmandu that night. Only 19, including Milan, remain in custody, facing public offense charges.
The raid has sparked buzz in Kathmandu, with locals relieved but wary. Milan’s gang activities have long cast a shadow over the city’s nightlife. As police dig deeper, questions swirl about how this self-proclaimed don kept his grip on power. The case heads to court, promising more twists in Milan’s saga.
