This article will tell you everything about the Pashupati Trust corruption, how it started, who was involved, and why the people of Nepal are very upset. We will use simple words, so even young students can understand. Keep reading to learn about the full story and how it affects everyone.
What Is the Pashupati Area Development Trust?
The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) is a group that takes care of the Pashupatinath Temple and the area around it. They help with religious work, look after the temple, and also manage the cremation area at Aryaghat, where many people go for last rituals.
People believed the Trust was doing good work. But now, we know that some people in the Trust were doing very bad things.
What Happened in the Corruption Case?
The CIAA (Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority) found that NPR 10.5 crore was misused when buying an electric cremation machine for Aryaghat. This machine was supposed to help families perform funerals in a better and cleaner way. But the money meant for the people was taken wrongly.
The CIAA found out that the cost of the machine was made higher on purpose. Also, fake documents were used to hide the truth. This is known as public fund misuse in Nepal.
Who Are the People Involved?
Many people were involved in this Nepal corruption news 2025 story. The CIAA has filed a case against 14 people and 2 companies. One big name is Milan Kumar Thapa, who is a current member-secretary of the PADT. He is accused of helping in this big scam.
Other people from the Trust, engineers, and people from the supplier company were also involved. The companies worked together with the Trust to steal the money.
CIAA said “This was a serious misuse of public funds. Fake bills were used and the price of the cremation machine was raised without reason.”
An official from CIAA stated “We found that the machine cost far less than what was paid. This is a clear case of embezzlement.”
Milan Kumar Thapa denied “I did nothing wrong,” but the CIAA says the proof is strong.
This case is now in court, and everyone is waiting to see what the judge will decide.
Why Does This Matter to the People?
The money that was misused could have helped many families. The electric cremation machine scam means that people’s money was used in the wrong way. People go to Pashupati Aryaghat to say goodbye to loved ones, and they trust that the services will be clean and fair.
But this scam broke that trust.
Also, Pashupati Trust embezzlement shows how deep corruption is in Nepal. If trusted places like the Pashupati Trust are not honest, how can people feel safe and hopeful?
How Did the Scam Work?
Let’s look at how the scam was done in very simple steps:
The PADT decided to buy a cremation machine.
They made the price look higher than it really was.
Fake documents and bills were made to show false spending.
The extra money was taken by the people in charge.
CIAA found out about it and started checking all papers.
Now, the case is in court and people may go to jail.
This is why the case is also called the CIAA corruption case Nepal.
What Happens Next?
The CIAA has done its job by filing the case. Now, the court will look at the proof and decide if the people are guilty. If they are found guilty, they may have to return the money and go to jail.
Also, people are asking for better ways to stop corruption in Nepal. Many want stronger laws and clear records so that money cannot be stolen again.
The government has promised to take action.
Final Thoughts
This story about the Pashupati Trust corruption is very sad. A place that should give peace and help to people was used to steal money. The NPR 10.5 crore scandal is not just about numbers; it is about broken trust.
Let’s hope this case brings truth and justice. People must speak up when something wrong happens. And we all must protect places like the Pashupatinath Temple, which is not just a holy site, but a symbol of Nepal.
